Aleksander Witold Urban - Candidate for Secretary
Hello my name is Aleksander Witold Urban and I am running for Secretary. I come from Eastern Europe and surprisingly even though I was born in Poland, my family spans from several countries in Europe so I come from a very diverse background. Now as for my reasons behind running for Secretary read on to get a sense of what I want to accomplish as your officer. Through my prior and ongoing experiences with the STEM Club and the Robotics Club I have learned many important factors of being a leader. Things like dedication, fairness, humility, and assertiveness are all abilities that I have acquired through my experiences as a committee adviser in STEM Club and as a Co-Chairman in the Robotics Club. I believe that these four qualities are what define a strong leader and by becoming an officer for this year’s National Honor Society Chapter at our high school I believe I can improve upon those qualities. As your Secretary I would like to help create a sense of openness and magnanimity in our chapter, thus my priority if I am elected is to help enforce such principles and to work together with the other officers in order to create an unforgettable experience that we will all be proud to hold in our memories of our Senior year in high school.
Vote Urban for Secretary!

Hi, my name is Jared Levin, and I am running for the position of Secretary for NHS. I had the privilege to be the President of my USY chapter (United Synagogue Youth) for the past two years, and I had the opportunity to successfully develop my skills as a leader. Responsible for planning social and philanthropic events for my chapter, as well as leading the chapter in meetings and group discussion, it was my job to reach out to the community and organize events to ensure that they were successful. With this leadership role already under my belt, I feel as though I can contribute a large amount of experience that will be useful when planning events such as Teacher Jeopardy. I feel that with my strong communication skills, as well as my social skills, I encompass what is necessary to fulfill the position. Shelly Sharma- Candidate for Treasurer
Hello everyone, I am Shelly Sharma and running for treasurer of National Honors Society. Throughout my high school career, I have tried my best to incorporate business classes, beginning by taking Honors Accounting my sophomore year. I quickly learned how to handle transactions, carry out accounts, and even do my own taxes. All the skills I took from accounting, I carried into my junior year and implemented them in my DECA Financial Literacy Promotion Project. Working with Jenn Eng, we reached out to numerous people, such as representatives from H&R Block and Junior Achievement to help students learn more about the field of finance. This really gave me a chance to work with outside organizations and coordinate a Financial Feast for Lawrence’s DECA students. Furthermore, my experience with handling accounts continued as I worked in the school store throughout my junior year. This year, I still work in the school store, as I help Ms. Schneck train the new students. Aside from my experience, I feel as though I would make a good treasurer, for I communicate efficiently with people and try to complete my tasks in a fast, but accurate manner. Also, I really enjoy working and learning from others. However, the one trait that I feel makes me a good person for an officer position is that I know how to manage my time well. Throughout the years, I have been able to manage rigorous courses, be on a sports team, while also participating in clubs like DECA and Model UN. Whatever I take on, I always put in 100% ( and some more) of effort into it.
